The more I experiment with internet dating, the more I find problems. But then, I also have some pretty amazing experiences too! Just listen to this. Sure I’ve been experimenting with mature dating sites for a few months, but, as I’ve mentioned before, I have also looked at other dating sites to broaden my horizons. And that’s where my most recent adventure unfolded.
Well, I managed to find a local girl who was willing to meet with me. I had to dig deep through the options available to me on the dating site I was using, managing to find just one contact in my city so I thought what the heck. I was completely honest in my disclosure and wrote about myself as a mature single man looking for a date with a view to friendship and just to see what might happen. I know that there are plenty of people who are not as honest and I was not sure what to expect.
We arranged to meet at around 2 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon and we chose a cafe in a central location that we both knew. I told her I would be wearing a white cap so I would be easy to recognize. Sure enough at the a lot of time she came to my table, (I had arrived 15 minutes early), and said I’d know that white cap anywhere!
To my surprise she was quite attractive and we struck up a conversation quite easily. We had a couple of cups of coffee and after a bout one hour, agreed that we had enough in common to see what might happen next. That’s when the surprises began. For the sake of this post I will call her Julie. Julie suggested that we didn’t have to wait until the next date to do something, and why not try something now. I said sure what did you have in mind. She said well I am free for the next few hours so we could go for a walk in the park near my house if you’d like. I said sure why not.
We each drove our cars to her suburb as there are some pretty nice parks there. We met at the appointed place and began our walk. She slipped her arm through mine and told me she felt really comfortable with me. I know that Internet dating is supposed to be a careful process cause you don’t know who you are meeting, but it wasn’t as if I had not been careful so I was just going with the flow. After another half an hour of walking she turned to me and said ‘ look I know this might sound strange and a little bit forward but would you like to come back to my place now for a drink’?
I didn’t know what to think but I was going with the flow so I said yes. To cut a long story short, when we got back to her place she just about jumped on me as soon as we walked in the door. I emerged about an hour or two later with a twinkle in my eye and a smile on my face. However, Julie told me that she didn’t really want to meet me again!
As I think about this now a few weeks later, I can’t believe it really happened. I was looking for some love in my life and although I got a special kind of loving for a few hours it has left me wondering what I can do in the future to make my Internet dating quest a little more successful. As I have said before I have tried to the mature Christian dating approach to no avail and now I have to admit that my initial Internet dating has had patchy results.
Not that I am complaining too much, Julie was a fantastic lover and the thought has crossed my mind that I should call her again but I promised her that I wouldn’t. So for now it’s back to the drawing board and I guess that Internet dating and mature dating in general might just be a numbers game.
